Oatmeal Cookies

Do you ever get cravings for a delicious dessert? I don’t know about you but this seems to be a reoccurring theme for me typically happening right after supper! I usually end up breaking down and giving into my cravings. In some of the more extreme cases I would drive to our local convince store and grab a chocolate bar when I’m really craving something yummy preferable covered in chocolate since I am a chocolate fanatic! Thankfully I like to bake so desserts seem to be available in the house from time to time.

One of my favorite things to make is Oatmeal Cookies. They are simply delicious and not very hard to make. The recipe that I use come from my grandmother. It is a timeless classic!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Cup of seedless raisins ( if desired )
  • 1/3 Cup of water
  • 1/2 Cup of chopped walnuts
  • 1 1/2 Cup of flour
  • 2/3 Cup of butter
  • 1 Cup of brown sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 1/2 Cups of oats
  • 1/4 Teaspoon of Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 Teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 Teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/2 Teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 2 Tablespoons of molasses or maple syrup ( I use maple syrup )

The instructions are fairly simple. Begin by combining dry ingredents followed by the wet ones. Stir. Once mixed roll into balls about 1 and a half inches thick and placing them on a cookie sheet. Press balls down until they are 1/2 inch thick. Place in oven. Cook and enjoy!
